New York - Tips & Suggestions
Hi All
I'm going to New York at the end of April for 5 Days (cant wait!!!) just wondered if anyone had any tips & tricks or recommendations for essential things to do. I will be doing the obvious things like Empire State, Brooklyn Bridge & Time Out etc but would love to hear if there's any must sees that aren't as obvious
Thanks - Ali

Top of the Rock is more impressive than going up the Empire State in my opinion, because you can see the Empire State building from up there.
MoMA is fantastic if you like Art.
If you can stretch to it, a helicopter flight around Manhatten is also.....Awsome!
Keen's steakhouse is v good:

And if you're around Wall St this bar and restaurant is also excelent:

The Circle Line tour is good if the weather's OK. It's a boat trip that circumvents Manhattan. The High Line walk is along a disused railway line. There is an interesting structure near the start called the Vessel that is worth a glance. We went into it but I see that you can't nowadays because people have been jumping off it. There's the 911 Museum and the Freedom Tower which is nearby although I didn't really think it was worth going up that - the views are just as good from the Empire State.
If you like greenery, gardens and walking...the NYC High Line. Surrounded by greenery and with views of the city from above.

Metropolitan Museum? Museum of Modern Art? Bloomingdales and Macy's? Staten Island ferry, Statue of Liberty? Broadway show? (Cheap same-day tickets at TKTS offices.) High Line park? Circle cruise round Manhattan (recommended by me)? Or just stroll round neighbourhoods like Greenwich, garment district, Times Square, Central Park.
Five weeks would be better!

The East and West sides of Manhattan are divided by 5th avenue. Grid system pretty much on both sides with streets east/West and north/south.
The East side is posh, and the West side is more funky. Both are insanely expensive.

Just for fun if you are a theatre lover Sardis for lunch or early dinner.
Try to get entrance ticket booklet to main attractions before you go and see what really interests you. Statue of Liberty has many steps to climb to the top!!
The Botanical Gardens will be just coming into flower in April.
Grand Central tour well worth a visit.
Great jazz clubs in Greenwitch Village.
Base what you see round what your interests are rather than seeing everything
The walking tours of different districts are great
