For a change, next Christmas we have decided to set off for a short break in the sun.We wouldn't be leaving until the day after Boxing Day.Could anyone suggest somewhere within about 4 hours flying time where we could go.Ideally we would like somewhere not to noisy but also with entertainment.?

Thanks

Maderia is lovely - They have a wonderful firework display for New Year and there are plenty of Resaurants bars and cafe's and plenty of sightseeing. If you go the sledding down the hill is good fun (thats not on snow). It is also nice and warm but not too hot.

The Canary Islands.

There are a number of islands, and they do vary. They have their noisy parts but also their quiet parts.

They are off the coast of Africa so very warm.

Cyprus is within reach. Morocco and Tunisia too but they may not have the entertainment you want. None of them has guaranteed sun, though, for that you'd need the Canaries or southern Egypt.

I live in Fuerteventura, (Canaries) and can personally vouch for the it being a good break.
Corralejo, in the north is the main tourist town and has plenty of restaurants and bars to cater for all tastes and purses. its a really relaxed resort with great beaches as well, the weather is generally 20 degrees warmer than the UK but it is still winter and you do may get some cloud.

Check out Here Here and Here for the islands main websites.

It sounds like you would be away during New Years Eve, and in Corralejo this year the local council put on a free fireworks display, had live bands playing from 10pm till 4am and gave away free party bags and beer all night long. Not bad aye!
