I am going to Antayla for a month. My Daughter is there working and I’m going with friends.

We would like to travel about while there.
Does any one know how easy it is to fly to Israel or Cairo from Antayla?

I flew from Cyprus to Cairo in 2005 so I would imagine it's possible from Turkey too.

I'm going to Antalya myself in August and again in October so I will be interested in what replies you get.

I’ve just been looking on Skyscanner and there are several airlines that fly from Turkey to Israel although it might be that they’ll go from Istanbul , worth checking though

She would but she is only starting next month so at present she doesn’t know and I would like to plan and book things to do and see from Antayla with my friends so we can work out budgets.

AnadoluJet (which is the budget arm of Turkish Airlines) flies from Antalya to Tel Aviv but only on a seasonal basis. As their website throws a wobbly every time that I try to search it, I can't actually find out when those flights operate:

Turkish Airlines ('proper') also operate between those two airports but, again, on a seasonal basis. On first accessing their website, I was only offered departures from the UK but switching to 'Multi-city' and then back to either 'Round trip' or 'One way' seemed to fix that problem:

Pegasus Airlines (which is a budget Turkish carrier) operate all year round from Antalya to Tel Aviv:

There are no direct flights from Antalya to either of the other two international airports in Israel (Haifa & Ramon).

There are no direct flights from Antalya to Cairo.

If you haven’t already been there I would recommend Istanbul. There are regular and relatively inexpensive flights from Antalya. I would allow for at least 3 nights in Istanbul (or more) because there is so much to see and do there.

North Cyprus is another possibility - again there are regular flights from Antalya to Ercan. You would need to hire a car (they drive on the left like us) that you could pick up and drop off at the airport. Again, 2/3 nights minimum to see the sights, including Salamis.

I would agree that cappadocia is wonderful (I have been there twice) but the bus journey is quite long - I think it is around 12 hours from Antalya to Nevsehir via Sparta and Konya.

I am sorry to say that I find Antalya and the coast to the east and west overdeveloped and unappealing. It is full of mega hotels. I visited this beach in 1993 when it was pristine - quiet and family oriented with a lokanta serving wonderful Turkish food. This is what it is like now:

AnadoluJet and Pegasus both fly from Antalya to Istabul's Sabiha Gökçen Airport. Turkish Airlines fly to the main Istanbul Airport.

Pegasus and SunExpress both fly to Kayseri, in Cappadocia.

AnadoluJet and Pegasus both fly from Antalya to Ercan.
