Should We Wait To Take My Moms Dog To The Vet?

I live with my mom. She has a 12 year old pit bull who has arthritis in his spine and front paws. We give him medication daily for his arthritis. My mom took him to the vet 2 months ago, and that's when she found out he has arthritis in his spine. For the past week or so, he'll just be laying in his bed, and whinning. I thought maybe he needed to go potty but he wouldn't get up. He just kept whinning. I'm pretty sure it's his arthritis. My mom just told me that the vet reccomended hot compress for his spine. So just getting a cloth wet with warm water, and massaging his spine with it. Should we try that before I call the vet. I have a feeling the first thing they're gonna ask is if we've been doing hot compresses.

Seems obvious to me too. But that makes me wonder why you're even asking

If he's in constant pain do you think it might be best to let him go?

The dog needs a proper dry heat pad at the appropriate temperature as he is in real pain. Did the vet provide the pad ?   You should be acting as advised . He is suffering if he cannot get up.

JW why is this acceptable??? You worry about someone using the wrong cleaning cloth yet are so dim you need to ask if a dog whining in a bed for a week should go to a vet?

The only relief is that hopefully all your posts on this site are utter wind-ups.

No don't wait.  Take it now.  Poor poor boy.

Prudie, who is JW please?

JW is, I think, Jesus and he is crying, ladybirder.

Thanks B I should have known that. Doh!
