When you ask //what is the best time to visit Egypt// do you mean weatherwise?

If you do, a friend of mine went a few weeks ago and the weather was very hot.

The best time to visit Egypt is between October and April. During these months, the weather is cooler and more comfortable for exploring the country’s rich historical sites and vibrant cities. Daytime temperatures during this period are generally pleasant, making it ideal for activities such as visiting the Pyramids of Giza, cruising the Nile, or wandering through bustling markets in Cairo.

October to April: This timeframe offers mild temperatures that range from about 60°F (15°C) at night to around 80°F (27°C) during the day. This makes it suitable for outdoor activities without the discomfort of extreme heat.

Peak Tourist Season: The peak tourist season occurs from late December through January when many travelers flock to Egypt for winter vacations. While this period offers excellent weather, it also means larger crowds and higher prices for accommodations and tours.

Shoulder Seasons: The months of March and April are considered shoulder seasons where you can enjoy good weather with fewer tourists compared to peak times. However, be mindful of potential sandstorms known as khamaseen that can occur in March.

Summer Months (June to September): These months are characterized by extremely high temperatures, often exceeding 100°F (38°C). While summer may offer lower prices and fewer tourists, it is not recommended for those sensitive to heat or planning extensive outdoor activities.

Duration Needed for a Visit

The number of days needed to visit Egypt can vary based on your interests and travel plans. However, a typical itinerary would require:

7 to 10 Days: This duration allows you to explore major highlights such as Cairo (including the Pyramids), Luxor (Valley of the Kings), Aswan (Nile cruises), and possibly a few days at Red Sea resorts like Sharm El-Sheikh or Hurghada.

Longer Stays: If you wish to delve deeper into Egyptian culture, history, or relax at coastal resorts, consider extending your trip to two weeks or more.

In summary, planning your visit between October and April while allocating around 7 to 10 days will provide a fulfilling experience in Egypt.

We went to Luxor in September and it was well into the 40's everyday, it was a very dry heat so more bearable than some countries.

Watching news each morning Cairo was always about 10 degrees cooler.
