Hotel of railway carriages

I'm told that near York there is a hotel comprising old railway carriages nicely fitted out into bedrooms and dining alcoves. I'd like to stay there when I drive up to Scotland later this year. Does anyone know anything about it, please, including its name and exact location?

Hmm? Near York? As far as I know, there's nothing like you describe particularly close to York (unless you can persuade the National Railway Museum to let you sleep there) :-)

Thanks for your response. That's a self-catering set-up though, and I'm sure the place I heard about is a hotel, and also that non-residents may dine there, too.

There might be some doubt about whether they're still open as I found a report saying that the business was up for sale and both of their website URLs just lead to blank pages.

The Daily Telegraph restaurant reviewer wasn't particularly kind to the place last July:

It's also worth noting that the Hotel is right next to the East Coast Main Line so you'll really need to like trains as you'll see and, more importantly, hear a lot of them!

Don't let that review put you off The Sidings. I've not stayed there and admittedly it was a long time ago but I have had dinner there and the food and service were fantastic. A really nice place. The trains do run past it very fast and fairly close but their double glazing is good and they're not too loud. If you like trains and want to really watch them though they have a terrace outside by the tracks and the trains often hoot as they go by.
