I am taking my family to London for the April 2006 school vacation which which includes Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. I am beginning to fear that we are going to have a hard time finding places open and things to do on those days. Could someone tell me what might be open and recommend activities in or near London for those days? Thanks.

You obviously don't know London very well! Almost everything will be open over the Easter period. This includes the wonderful Science Museum (which is London's number one star attraction if you've got children and still great fun if you haven't).

If you need further suggestions for things to do and places to go during your visit just post again and I'll be happy to help. (I'm sure that other ABers won't be shy in giving suggestions either!).

Have a look at this post, it should give you some ideas and have a great time. Can't remember if it has been mentioned, but BEWARE of pickpockets. Always keep your bag zipped, zip at front, usual stuff. Have fun

where to start, A ride on the London Eye, From there you can walk to the Houses of Parliament & Westminster Abbey. Then walk down Whitehall to Trafalgar Square and visit the National Gallery. You can then walk from there to Buckingham Palace or get yourselves day tickets for the buses & trains, they are very reasonable. You can even take a boat ride on the thames from westminster pier.

Also visit the Tower of London and the Monument near to where the Great fire of London started If the days are dry walk through Hyde park & kensington gardens,You can see where Princess Diana lived Also hire a rowing boat on the serpentine (in Hyde Park &Ken Gdns)

It might sound confusing but Hyde park & Kensington gardens are actually joined together but be prepared for a long walk, the parks are enormous

If you go to Baker Street station you can Visit madam tussauds wax works and the planatarium which is virtually next door . I'm worn out now I feel tired after all that walking !

Have a Great time

Buy this book, it will be well worth it and give you loads of ideas.

You should be able to get it in Smith or Waterstones.
