florida for small children/

I have 2 sons aged 2 and 4. We are thinking of going to Florida but am worried that they wont be able to go on and enjoy the attractions. Does anyone have any advice.

Hi netty, my daughter is 3 and she was 5 months old the first time we took her. shes been another 5 times since. At that age they are too small to go on many of the rides although seaworld is one of the attractions that im sure they would love. But there are some beautiful places to see over there besides the attractions. There are plenty of zoos and parks around. If you have the use of a hire car you dont need to stay in orlando and can venture further afield. I would go for it, you may never get another chance to go. and if you do you can always take them back to the theme parks when they are older.

I have to say that 2 and 4 is too young to take children to Florida.

It is hot, the days are long, and at that age they will remember almost none of it. It is a lot of money, and a lot of "work" for very little gain.

I would say 6 or 7 is about the minimum age to really get the benefit.

I remember being at Sea World and going up in a lift on a large tower so you get views of the area.

Next to me were an American husband and wife. The wife was pregnant and looked exhausted, they had a young child of 2, and a push chair.

The 2 year old was obviously tired and was becoming fed up and moaning. None of the family seemed to be enjoying it and I wondered why they bothered.

Go on a "beach" holiday with the kids. They can relax, you can relax, and you will all have a holiday.

If you want theme park go to Port Aventura in Spain which is as good a theme park as any in the USA.

They also have a great water park and three great hotels, and it is only a 2 hour flight.

I agree absolutely with vehelpfulguy. Don't forget most rides have size limits, so if you want to go on rides it means one of you will have to wait with the kids while one of you rides.

We always wanted to take our kids when they were young, thinking it would be "magical" for them. We were stopped from doing this by financial ties, however last year we finally managed to take the two youngest who were 15 and 17 (birthday on 2nd day of hol).

They actually said themselves that it was the best age for them as they could go on any ride and still appreciate it all. We had a whale of a time, and I can remember seeing many families with younger kids (some even babies) who looked like they were exhausted and fed up.

I agree with most that two and four might be a little young -- but if you keep your days short and visit places such as Animal Kingdom in the morning -- seaworld -- the zoos -- and one of my favorite places Discovery Cove, orlando, it should be fine.

Also try staying in a home rather than a hotel.
