Favourite place in usa
Thinking about having a week in America in the summer. What are everybody's favourite places? It's always good to hear ideas and suggestions.

Florida Keys as they are the perfect antidote to Mickey Mouse and his chums. Idyllic and perfect for chilling out. In the same sort of area i also love Fort Lauderdale.....the Venice of the USA!
Las Vegas cos it's pure flamboyance and everyone should do it at least once. And then try not to go back. Everyone gets sucked in!
Boston is a beautiful cosmopolitan city that i much prefer to New York. Its not quite as frenetic as its more famous neighbour but maybe thats why i like it.
Not only Boston, as mkt suggests, but in my opinion the entire New England area. The coasts and mountains of Maine are exceptionally rewarding. One could spend the entire summer exploring the Lighthouses and coves of the coastal area. Vermont and New Hampshire have scenery and charms all their own. The nice thing about it all is that it's fairly compact. You can tour the whole are (with the exception of the northern most reaches of Maine) in a week. Boston is one of my favorite cities in the U.S. as well. One can take several days to see everything... especially a Saturday or Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park with the World Champion Red Sox playing the New York Yankees...
For very different reasons, San Francisco and New York. SF is a relaxed, easy-going place with a lovely climate, excellent food and great music. NY is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city that truly never sleeps, with superb arts & theatre, excellent food and great music! I've always found both cities to be very friendly and - with the usual sensible precautions - safe. The US city I most dislike is Los Angeles - oppressive, noisy, dirty, unfriendly and most definitely not safe-feeling.
