It all depends where you want to go ie: cork dublin galway etc. Waterford is quite nice if you want to be close to the sea but if you want to be in land then Limerick or Laios or Kilkenny. In Laios there is a town called Abbeyleix which has loads of Irish Pubs but one in particular Morriseys is a real old fshioned pub where people used to come to get there shopping and buy a house and organise a funeral in theold days, now a days i think you can buy some groceries and some sweets there and buy a house and organise your funeral next door!
If it's your first time to Southern Ireland you can't miss the touristic Ring of Kerry, the Dingle Peninsula, and if you want to Blarney Castle. Killarney is central for all of these and got loads of things going on and good pubs.
