Can you take your own food on a plane? I am asking cos I am taking 2 small boys on a long flight and was thinking of taking sweets, etc for when they are get hungry as we are only fed 1 meal and 1 snack on a 9+ hour flight.

Yeah, course you can. Half of my hand luggage is always taken up by sweets, lol! Have a lovely time xxx
i usually always take a sandwich and some crisps on a flight as not too fussed for aeroplane food. Most do serve snacks also but best to take your own cause not normally good selection but also can be bit pricey(and not too fresh).
on flights to USA my whole hand luggage is taken up with sandwiches and packs of pringles!
glad im not the only one!! my fella gets really embarrassed when i start unpacking my little picnic onto the tiny little seatback tray tables!!
I never book the meal on flights anymore. Call me tight but i refuse to pay 15 for meals that my daughter (age 3) probably wouldnt eat anyway. We do just fine with sandwiches, crisps, fruit etc. and I often find that my daughter will snack a little and often during long flights rather than have to wait for a meal to be brought to her, which only makes them irritable, lol
But be aware that many countries don't allow you to take food in so you have to eaither eat the food on the plane or throw it away before going through customs at the other end.
Probably doesn't apply to you, but airlines don't like you taking your own alcohol on board and drinking it. Food - no problem.
