expired tourist visa

my french tourist visa expired on sunday. I was unable to return to the UK within the 3 day visa because my ticket and money was lost. I am returning tomorrow. what will happen now that i am 3 days late in returning to the Uk? I have a UK work permit which expires in sept.

do you have some sort of police report detailing your losses? I had a passport stolen abroad some years ago - before 9/11, which means things may have changed since - but got a police form reporting the loss, which was enough to let me back in the UK. I don't know if the French are checking people out more carefully, though.

The UK authorities who are the only people likely to look at your passport in any detail will not care two hoots about whether your French visa is valid or not. It's the UK one they will worry about.

If the French do an exit check I doubt if they will worry very much either.
