Crete is very pretty Agios Nikolaos, Via, Sitia, Rethimnon - check any comments for accommodation on the Tripadvisor site for travellers reviews http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Tourism-g189413-Crete-Vacations.html for Crete and do the same for Cyprus destinations. Some of the comments may make you think twice about what the hotel is rated as and may save some hassles when you are there....
Hi Nickmo,
Thanks for your advice. Which place would you say is good for 30 somethings that like a wee bit of night life but not the yobo stuff. I love sight seeing and scenery.
Or do you thing somewhere else would be good. Only wanna go for a week to 10 days , as my best friend will be home from U.S.A.
I have been to G.canairies, new york, paris, philidephia, spain,Rome and nice.
Many Thanks,
Blimey Irishlassy - planning honeymoons now....ok:
If you think you will be going out at all, certainly Cyprus would be a good bet - if you like a bit of frsh air the Akamas Peninsular is nice to walk around, Turtle Hatchery at Lara Bay - hire a 4x4 - do not use a normal car as some of the roads around the Cedar Valley and the north west are appaling. But - good food, nice people, relaxing place...diving, walking, good food and so on..
Crete can either be very noisy - in main towns - or very quiet - lots of bathing on isolated beaches that even the goats don't get to, little villges in the hills and so on. Def. to be recommended.
If you can really go anywhere - and you reckon 3000 budget? - have a look at : http://www.cooperisland.com/ and get packing - 250 a week per person, add a 30 airport-to-island water taxi, a flight for 400 (see: http://www.cheapflights.co.uk/flights/Tortola/Heathrow/ ) for example ex Heathrow to Beef Island, BVI - and use the rest to have some sailing, diving, good food, wine - and just chill.....and bear in mind the flight would only be a couple of hours more than Crete...
Or. What about Granada in Spain (if you haven't been to that area) - use it as a base and take trips around the south and see some of the best scenery in Europe - pueblo blancos like Casares, Arcos de la Frontera etc, go to Seville, Toledo, the Costa de la Luz...superb food, real atmosphere in some of the Paradores: http://www.parador.es/english/index.jsp?source=realmedia - that would make a holiday to remember I would suggest..

Polis on the north coast is nice and laid back - good accom there too. Also Pana Panagia in the 'middle' is good. See https://www.agrotourism.com.cy/DestinationMgr/Property_Card.aspx?HotelID=36 Beautiful little village, really friendly locals will help you get bery well fed and watered - try the home brew zivania at 90% proof...
Car hire at http://www.petsas.com.cy/ and go for a 4x4 - you really will be glad you got one and not a regular car. Drive up the CEdar valley, onto Akamas Peneinsular, Lara Bay.
