Touring around Europe

I am planning a car trip around Europe taking possibly taking 6 months or longer. Does anyone know of any good webs sites etc so that I can start to plan my trip, so that I can get the max from it.

you can post questions about pretty much everything travel related on thorn tree, but travelblog is loads of blogs from people as they travel. i've found that reading what other people have done gives you a pretty good idea about what you want to do yourself. have a nice trip!

Think carefully about when you start your trip.

If you start in say March you will have good weather for 6 months till say September, and long days.

If you leave in say September you could have poor weather for a lot of the 6 six months, and short days.

It might be simpler to make an initial plan say encompassing 6 counties for a start. For example UK to Spain/Portugal/Spain then into Southern France. This would lead you into Germany/Switzerland/Italy/Austria and so on. Having decided a route(basic plan) it would then be much easier to trawl the web and find the places of interest in each country. If you fancy going northwards then it would be France/ Holland/ Belgium(depending where you live in UK) then into Germany and Denmark etc. Route first is my recommendation.
