Bed and Breakfast years ago

Does anyone remember how when staying at a B and B years ago after breakfast you had to leave the house for the day and not return until about 5pm. Also you had to book a bath, so they could turn the boiler on or something which cost you extra!

Blackpool used to be famous for that sort of thing in the days before foreign travel and wall to wall sunshine and sangria.
Who can ever forget the breakfast swimming in its own pool of grease?
They're still playing catch-up but who can guarantee the weather in Britain?
