Until we came to live permanently in Greece, we used to visit Makri Yialos every September. Absolutely loved it, but it's a LOooong transfer from the airport as you have to drive over the White Mountains. (BTW the name means long beach, and it is!)

thanks all, Crete is my favourite place. Have travelled across most of the north coast, now tryng the south. Have been to Mirtos twice.
What part do you live in rojash?

I always assumed I would live somewhere in Crete, but somehow I've ended up in Kefalonia!
