when you leave the m6 and head toward workington,about a third of the way down ( opposite the lake ) on a hillside to the left of the road,is something shrouded in white.......


what is it please?

According to local stories it is a rock painted white to mark the position on the hillside where a local Priest/vicar attempted to climb it on his horse and that is the place they both fell to their death from.
I actually live in south Cumbria but that is what i've always been told, if i'm wrong i apologise. Hope this helps a bit.
Also supposedly the priest had been in the pub all nite and it was a dare to climb to the top of the hill
