My boyfriend and I have just booked a 4 star holiday in Corallejo, Feurteventura for August(This is probably to wrong spelling!). Since booking it, we have heard some things about it that we dont really like the sound of. We are both 21 and dont neccesarily want somewhere with a huge night life, but we do want somewhere that is going to be at least a bit liveley. Also, I have heard that the island has a terrible problem with cockroaches, the beaches aren't that nice and that it is generally a bit dull. Has anybody been there ? If so, can you please tell me what your experience of the island is please. Thanks

just come back from fuerteventura we had a great week. stopped at calleta de fuste not a cockroache in sight. great beaches, nightlife low key but something for everyone.corallejo is a bit more lively and has better beaches. check out fuertaventura.com the sites dedicated to the island. hope that helps. cheers.
I'd say 'dull' is right on the money, though by staying in Corralejo, you've picked the best overall resort in Fuerteventura. While the beaches are not the best on the island, they're still nice, though be careful about sitting on the sunloungers (cost about 15 euros for the day). Your best bet is to head for the sand dunes just outside the main town. Great views and the beach is less busy, cleaner and more picturesque.

As for nightlife, Puerto del Rosario has good clubs - you'll be warned off going here by your reps, as it's a Spanish working town not geared towards tourists. But though few residents speak English, we found them friendly enough.

If you hire a car, some things worth exploring are Jandia in the south, where you'll find THE best beaches and tacky shops, Lajita and Canada del Rio on the east coast for their lovely secluded beaches (predominantly German, if you care about that sort of thing), and Betancuria towards the West is a v. pretty village which has some nice bits of architecture, if that's up your street. Finally, sorry to contradict Anthony, but I wouldn't go near Caleta de Fuste with a bargepole. We stayed there & compared with the rest of the island it has nothing to recommend it. Overpriced and tacky, very family orientated, and completely English. Even the beach is the only man-made one on the island. Fine for people who want to go on holiday and still eat chips and watch football and Eastenders, but otherwise...

I wwnt a few years ago over the xmas period and i have to be honest it was the worst christmas ever. Personally i would never go back there as it wasnt a great experience. As far as i can remember the beaches werent that nice so we just stayued round the pool, although the pool was to cold to go in. i would defenatley reconsider going to Futuventurer. x

I have just come back from Caleta De Fuste with my boyfriend and I had a quality time. We went on The Cataarman, We went to Oasis Park and we also had a day in Jandia. Jandia has the most beautiful beaches i have ever seen and the cheapest shops we came across but the only thing is, everything is in German. But if you like Bratwurst then go there! in the week we stayed in Caleta De Fuste we only saw a couple of cockroaches, about 5. we also found the nightlife a bit jarring, everywhere we went was kareoke every night, nothing else. i think its the only form of entertainment they have there!! apart from that the place we enjoyed most was The Flower of Scotland. wicked people and bar staff, specially the DJ, well funny. overall i recommend The Flower of Scotland pub and Oasis Park, top day out! but stay away from Legends Sports Bar, we went in there for one drink and it was dead, but the barman sounds like Ringo Starr!! and make sure you eat a steak from Fado Rock Restuarant. top place! have a good Holiday!!
Jandia tends to be German orientated hence the bratwurst sausages however to the North of the island you have Corallejo that tends to be british orientated although still maintains its Spanish feel beaches just outside of Corralejo are fantastic. The nightlife isn't hectic although there are one or two clubs. Cockroaches are all part of living in a warm climate but they are not a major problem. Caleta de Fuste is just like little Britain and is a new resort that has little to no Spanish feel. I have stayed there on a number of occasions allocated on arrival. The beach there is man made and nowhere up to the standard of the natural beaches elsewhere on the island although it is ideal for couples with small children Have to agree Fado Rock is an excellent place for a meal in Caleta our favourite in Corallejo is La Terraza. my husband and I have been to Corallejo for quite a few years now, as with anywhere abroad you get what you pay for - if you have really cheap accommodation then you could suffer with cockroaches - as with anywhere that you go - however a four star should be fine - we normally stay in the Atlantis Palace Hotel and it is beautiful, they really look after you there - it is really clean and the entertainment is fantastic - you should go and visit the hotel while you are there - to see what you think - as for the beaches, they are glorious - we actually live in england on a beautiful coast that takes some beating - but we like corralejo as I am sure that you will too - my husband says you will go a long way to beat it - the beaches are golden and sandy - there are stone circles on some of them - but you need to get to the beach quite early for those - but it is worth it. Anyway enjoy your holiday and have lots of fun - it is great for surfing too - you won't be bored honestly and there is lots to do at night as well and it is quiet in places if that is what you both want. Just don't get hooked up with any time share travel conmen or travel conmen. Good luck
