Going to Oz next year and will (obviously) have to refuel half way. According to timetables we will be on the ground for 2 to 3 hours. Are you allowed off the plane at this time to stretch your legs, or do you have to stay on like sheep!? This is a really naff question which I feel I should know the answer to, but what with all the extra security etc, I was wondering.
ive had to stop on a flight to the USA for refueling and we were all herded off the plane and into a departure lounge until ready to take off again so no shopping.
You will be kicked off for cleaning (the plane, not you). What happens depends where you are. Singapore (the best airport in the world by far) has loads of shopping, gardens, bars, TV areas, massage.
If it is Bangkok, it will be the new airport (a long as they finally get it open) and it will be similar - shopping and shopping.
Singapore airport Changi is awesome - fountains and flowers and spotless...don't think that much of the prices. Bangkok has more character but they are gearing up on the designer shops - v cheap ciggies and booze.
