Can anyone recommend a good hotel in Ross on Wye. I've checked out all the usual websites and have just confused myself. Thanks in advance for any replies.

ooo i stayed in a lovely hotel in ross on wye in 1979, you could see it when yoiu were on the M50 on the edge of the hill as you looked up at the town, sorry, not sure what it is called but it was so quiet and quaint. Ols stone building with a big car park round the back.
not sure but i think it was the prince of wales, looks favourite

Thanks for the suggestion, I've had a look on the web but can't find a prince of wales in ross on wye. My guess is that its no longer there.
Stayed at The Royal and it was lovely, had a huge window overlooking the river below and beautiful views. It is one of the Old English Inns premises so you may even get a good deal. Ate in the bar instead of the restaurant and had one of the best steaks I have ever had. This was about 3 years ago so can't guarantee it's still the same but we would definately go back. Google "Old English Inns Ross on Wye" and you'll get it straight away. Old English release their special deals each Thursday morning and if there's availability you get it at least 50% off.
I've heard the Chase is rather nice if it was for a special trip. http://www.chasehotel.co.uk/
