Public Transport on Cote d'azur

Hi. Can anyone tell us whether there is plenty of public transport around the cote d'azur? We are thinking of going to La Baume Frejus next summer but do not want to hire a car. Are buses, taxis regularly available? Are they reasonably priced? Would we be able to travel easily north to say, Monaco and south to St. Tropez for example? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

La Baume is passed by Agglobus route 1Bis (from St Raphael & Frejus), but the buses can't really be described as frequent. Sodetrav route 104 runs from St Raphael/Frejus to St Tropez, approx every 1-2 hours, http://www.sodetrav.fr/

Thanks for that mushroom25. Do you know if the trains have to be pre-booked or can you just turn up and jump on one? Thanks for any help.
