Hotel in Gambia?
2 Answers
I wonder if anyone can recommend a good hotel in gambia? They appear to be quite basic, which im ok with if there is no choice, but would prefer a little luxury when on holiday! I understand that is one of the hottest and driest places to go in November? Thanks

Best thing is to get a brochure from The Gambia Experience as they are the specialists. Just be warned that the coastline is very dangerous, there's nothing between you and the Americas and the current can drag you under quite easily. Quite a few locals lost from the beach when we were there. There are quite a few hotels all together at Kotu beach so you have some choice for evening entertainment. We went in January and you only got 12 hours sunshine, it just went dark in a matter of minutes. Make sure you take the Malaria tablets. Hardly got any bites there surprisingly, usually get eaten alive. There are some lovely excursions, you should love it.
I absolutely hated Gambia I am sorry to say that but I have travelled all over the world and back packed etc but it was impossible for me and my friend to leave hotel due to the amount of hassle we got from local people and I am very tolerant been round India 3 times so not precious about stuff but I found it quite aggressive there are also alot of westerners paying for the company of young boys/girls so I found it bit seedy - our hotel was good and the restaurants were really good but this was about 6 years ago so may have improved I hope you have a good time and this is obviously just a personal opinion - weather was fab in March
