Has anyone ever visited it?
How difficult was the climb, I'm hoping to go with a tour and we will be getting the train there and then climb for a bit, but I wanted t know how other people found the rest of the climb - do you think it's ok for someone who isn't exactly the fittest??
Thanks
You don't need to be too fit to get up. When I was there, all sorts of people were making it up. Most of it is steps or paths. It always goes up, there are no flat parts, but if you take your time, and have a breaks on the way up, most people should get up. It takes probably about 30 / 45mins.
There is a smaller hill which is closer. The walk up this wasn't as long. When I was there it was really hazy, and the viewers from here were a lot clearer.
Might depend if you have had time to acclimatise in Cuzco en route as Macchu Pichu (etc) is high. If you go more or less direct form Lima, I expect you'll find it tough. If you acclimatise a few days en route you should be fine...
