where to go?

has any one got any suggestions on where to go for a 2 night city break around europe. obviously the wife and me don't want to spend too long on a plane as we aren't going away for long. looking at going around march time.
we've been to paris so not there.

Barcelona is wonderful at any time of the year. easyJet fly there and Ryanair have flights to both Girona and Reus (from where there are express coaches into Barcelona with a journey time, from either airport, of just over 1 hour):

Genoa is an interesting historic city and a superb base for a couple off days exploring the Italian Riviera. (There are frequent, cheap trains to delightful coastal places such as Santa Margherita and Rapallo).

Prague, Krakow and Riga are all popular destinations for city breaks but you might prefer to visit them in the summer months.

Other possibilities which come to mind are Madrid, Rome and Venice.

One of the easiest ways to see what is available, is to go to each of the budget airline's websites and set the departure point to your nearest convenient airport. The pull-down menu then shows all of the destinations which you can fly to, with that airline, from that airport. The main sites are as follows:

Alternatively, most airport websites have a list of destinations, served by both full-fare and budget scheduled services, on their websites. (For airports operated by BAA, click 'Flight information' and then 'Destinations & airlines').

The reason I suggest starting with the airline (or airport) websites, is that there's not much sense researching a particular destination if you can't get there easily from where you live. (Someone recently posted a very similar question about a weekend city break for their parents. Since their parents live in Tyne & Wear, it made sense to check the flights from Newcastle & Tees Valley airports. That showed that the only realistic alternatives were Prague, Barcelona and Rome. It would have been a waste of their time to research other destinations).

I was going to say Paris (and even if you have been there then there is always more to see).

How about Nice on the south coast of France.

Some budget airlines fly there and it should be lovely and mild in the spring.

As has been said, Barcelona is an wonderful and interesting city.
