Transport from Preston to Nottingham-return?

Hi there, anyone know what's my best bet-time wise and cost-wise to travel to Nottingham?.. train?bus?..? thanks=)

National Express is �30.50 standard return, changing at Birmingham or Manchester. 4-6 hours depending on how long you have to wait when changing. 5 or 6 departure a day.

Train is �37.40 saver return, various changing points, usually around 3 hours or so. No need to book ahead but check for peak hour restrictions. At least hourly.
If you book in advance there is an �11 single fare changing at Crewe and Derby usually.
