My husband has been diagnosed with a degenerative disease of the nervous system (MSA) which at the moment is mainly affecting his balance and his speech. We are wondering whether we would be able to fly to France later on in the year. Does anyone know of a good insurance company who would offer us reasonable travel insurance?

Remember you get some cover in France (though not as much as you'd like or need in a bad emergency) through the EHIC (E111 replacement).
I travel to France quite often and I never bother with insurance cover. (The EHIC covers most things but, obviously, doesn't cover things like repatriation expenses).
