Hotels in Las Vegas
Are the 15 a night hotels in Las Vegas alright? They're 3 star, right on the main strip and look good enough but 15 seems so cheap!

The cheapest Strip Hotels tend to be Sahara, Circus Circus & Stratosphere (none of them at 15) - the latter one being too far out and the other two being in need of a 'face lift'. I'd love to know which ones you've found for 15 and from which site??

Cheapest 3 star is Circus Circus 15 a night
The other two 3 stars are 17 and 19 a night
I've also got the Jetlife America brochure which splits the prices into times of the year but there's only a couple of difference between winter and summer.

like one of the other posters said the problem with both hotels is, particulary in the case of the Stratosphere, towards the upper end of the Strip and away from a lot of other places you may want to visit.
So though you may get a cheap rate you may also find that you have extra cost in taxi's etc.. and though I think both are within walking distance of the Monorail it can be a fair walk (we stayed at the Mirage, in the centre of the Strip, and it took us at least 20 minutes to walk from our room to the nearest monorail stop) so you're going to be spending a lot of time travelling. The Strip Trolley does go up to the Stratosphere and past Circus Circus , it's fun but takes an age.
I'd spend more and go for a centrally located hotel where you can walk to attractions

Most hotels are expensive on the Fri/Sat & can be anywhere between $100 - $400 ...the best located & cheapest hotel is the Imperial Palace. Its smack bany in the middle of the strip. Has the best chinese resaturant & car museum...oh & legends concert (lookalikes). there are plenty further off the strip & taxis are pretty cheap.
lb24 - looked at your jetlife website and it says "from 15 per person per night" - not room per night. My guess is that they are basing this on 3/4 people sharing a room = ie 45 - 60 per night. If you ask for a quote for specific dates, you'll find out.
Look for quotes that give a price for the room not per person. Like most websites the "from" price doesn't seem to exist when you actually put your dates in!!!!!
This website gives a map of the hotels on the dtrip so you can see where they are http://www.vegas.com/lounge/map.html

you have to think about the security too.
I stayed once at Circus Circus and it was grotty and half the wing seemed disused and I was worried about it being safe at night, the security at NewYork, New York, Luxor and the Tropicana was good.
A pal stayed in the motel section of Circus Circus right at the back of the complex. once where all the recreational vehicles park and said it was okay but they were a party of
6 men.
I think the downtown hotels are much cheaper but then u would need a bus from there to the monorail at the Saharah.

JK2 - prices are per person per night based on 2 sharing a room, although there would be a supplement for single occupancy. Thanks for that website link, it's great.
Good point Dee Sa. I would be staying there alone. My friends who i'm meeting are staying in one of the really expensive hotels, i just need to decide where to stay!
