mosquitoes??? are there any?? what about adaptors for electric shavers etc. we are planning to travel pretty light, snorkelling stuff a priority!! thanks for any advice.

just about every sort of socket in existence is in use in the Maldives! That seems to indicate it varies from hotel to hotel.

I stayed in a water bungalo, the type on stilts about 50 metres off the island and there was no mossis there!!

The majority of resorts use the standard UK square-pin sockets. If not, they should be able to lend you an adaptor.

Mosquitos are endemic to the Maldives. Your resort will have a control program to keep the numbers down, but it possibly won't be 100% effective. Fortunately, mosquitos don't like air conditioning, meaning you should be OK in your room. Sitting outdoors in the evening is the problem time, so take some repellent just in case.
