Can anyone tell me how long the railway tunnel between Stroud and Kemble in Gloucestershire is. Also, when it was constructed, and how such a tunnel is maintained.

If you scroll down here, it says 409 yards:

Thanks SteveD. I'd still like to know when the tunnel was constructed and how it is maintained.
Sapperton Railway tunnel (as opposed to the more famous canal tunnel next to it) was built between 1839 -1845. I don't really know what you mean by how is it maintained? Generally, the quality of work in thoughs days was pretty good and aside from patching up any defective stone/brickwork, there isn't a lot to do.
Steve, your tunnel is not the one being asked about - yours is the Swindon side of Kemble.

Sapperton tunnel is the one (two in fact, one very short) towards Stroud. Info here:

Oops, sorry, Tiddly3wink!
