free travel passes for O.A.P's

What can you tell me about free travel passes for O.A.P.'s
in april 2008? I've heard that to conform to EEC standards, all O.A.P.'s will be issued with passes to travel anywhere in this country, is this true?
If so,what info can you give me on acquiring such a pass?

I'm trying to find something on it but it would appear to differ dependant upon the area in which you live. I'll keep looking though

At the moment you can apply to your local council for a free bus pass for use in their area. Some allow it to be used in adjoining areas as well.

I would imagine you would use the same channels when the scheme becomes national
