What is a good pair of binoculars for taking on safari? Can anyone tell me what all the specifications mean and what I should be looking for when trying to buy a good pair?

I knew nothing about binoculars but wanted some decent ones to take to Ecuador. I only wanted smallish lightweight ones but good ones. Did loads of website reading and ended up with Steiner (German) - they only make binoculars - I bought the Wildlife ones 8 x 24 (think I paid about �130). They also have some called Safari I think - try googling Steiner & have a look.
