Can anyone please help me? A few years ago I borrowed a guidebook on Venice, with colour drawings of the buildings along the Grand Canal The book could be referred to one way up if you were on one side of the canal, then you turned it upside down and referred to it the other way up when you were on the other side of the canal. It was a brilliant idea! I'm going to Venice again next year and I would love to track this useful book down. But I don't have any more info about it - no author, publisher, etc. I've trawled through amazon.co.uk and tried my local library - no luck. Does my description of the book ring any bells with anyone? If so, can you gve me any more info?

The book is 'John Kent's Venice' which was published in paperback by Viking in 1992 ( ISBN 0-670-84374-1 ) and first published in hardback in 1988.
If you cannot track down a copy in this country you may be able to buy one in Venice itself either at the bookshop in the north-eastern corner of St Mark's Square on the same canal as the Bridge of Sighs or at the Tourist Information by the Giardini boat landing near St Mark's. Square.

Many thanks winifred for the information! Although the book is now apparently out of print, I have managed to track down a couple of copies now via the web. I am so grateful to you! [Email address removed as per site policy. - AB Editor]
