my car broke down the other day and i had to be towed away but as i was being towed i went through a speed camera if i was speeding at the time who would get the points me or the recovery driver??

Technically the recovery driver. Your car should have displayed his number plate on the rear as your car as it is effectively his trailer. So legally you should display his reg (just like an artic truck or caravan). The recovery vehicle is responsible for the speed, so its their fault. However, if you weren't displaying his reg, I don't know where you would stand.
