do your own insurance, half the price of tour operators
Fuel depends on how many miles you drive, if you're driving to your destination and how much fuel is in your chosen holiday spot

Last year we travelled from Kent to Maison Lafitte, a suburb of Paris, and we filled up before we went, filled up whilst we were there and that was it. The 2nd tank also bought us home. Our car does average 450 miles per tank and is a Rover 440. Miles from Calais to where were staying was 175 miles (about 45 miles from where we live to Dover)

As your previous answer says, get your own insurance. For eg the ins offered with the company we use charge 60 and I got the same, with a few tweaks as I didn't need luggage cover, for 23. Take the ins cert with you when you book.

Thanks for your answers

OJread, thanks for your answer, but I meant fuel for an aeroplane! However we are planning on going to france next year so that is definitely useful anyway!
Check the brochure - there should be mention of what's included and what's not. But things like fuel surcharges change all the time. For an exact price, phone the travel company. There's no commitment.
Ooops sorry!
I have no idea about plane fuel
