Has anyone found the definitve answer to Q24a yet? There was one strand talking about sgraffito houses somewhere in Europe - We really need to end these 10 days of misery!

That was me. I think it's Greece.more specifically the village of Pyrgi on Chios Island.it can be easily checked on Google.
I'm not totally convinced but it is a better bet than Rajastan - I hope you are right and wish you luck.
I'm sure it's the islamic influence so it really could be anywhere in the mid east with influence of islam. Yemen is still a prime example but there is a lot of this sgraffito (literally "scratched") work all over Iran, Iraq etc. But Greece is the one you would think of last and least so as Pyrghi had a lot of this influence in the 15th/16th c., then maybe that is the right answer.
24a - building design and 'colours' in Chios are wrong.
They seem to think it is Pyrgi, Greece on the uk.rec.competitions newsgroup. So go for it.

Ok owner2...you may be right... a search on google for Pyrgi brings up houses that look quite similar in design...I think we are going to go for Greece unless someone else has a better answer with proof
