Mexico (or similar) in September
Am looking for a bit of help/advice -
My boyfriend and I are ties to going away in September this year for our holiday due to work commitments. We have said that we would like to go long-haul rather than Europe. We're going to look in to buying a house next year, so really, this will be the last good holiday we'll have for a while! We like the idea of Mexico or similar but are aware that all those kind of places have their rainy seasons at that time. Do you think we should still go for it - anywhere anybody could recommend?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Me and the missus went to Florida (Orlando) in Sept 05. We caught the tail of a hurricane (Rita if memory serves), but it was nothing more than a strong breeze and heavy shower for about 5 minutes a few times for our first day. The weather was fantastic otherwise, and being out of season it was very reasonably priced and comapratively quiet.
Similarly, friends of mine have been to Mexico (Cancun) in September and said that the weather was usually fantastic, except when it rains as it gets very wet then!
If I was going to that part of the world again, then I would definately consider going in September. Yes, it is the 'wet season' but the good weather definately outweights the bad weather.
As for places to go, in Mexico my friends have said that outside of Cancun there's nothing much to do. (However Cancun is purpose built for tourists). Mexcio is still opening itself up and developing for tourists. I'm not sure on other areas of Mexico though.
It depends what type of holiday you are looking for. A relaxing beach type holiday or an adventure/exploration type holiday. However, if it is a beach holiday you're looking for then this part of the world in hurricane/wet season is probably not advised. If you're travelling that distance you'd want to go somewhere where you can do something regardless of the weather. If I was in your shoes I would be off to somewhere like Orlando or Miami. But thats just me...!
Let me know what you decide. It's given me the travel bug again...!

Hi, Just a suggestion, we went on 1st September to Cuba. I've been to Mexico (worked on cruise ships for years so been to most places) and Cuba is much cheaper and just as nice. It was really hot every day.
We went to Guadalavaca (south west side) it's really lovely, beautiful beaches, great hotels etc., all inclusive is probably best. We went on a safari, which we had to get a helicopter to, there's an aquarium where you can swim with the dolphins, the nightlife was good, there was diving and the people are so friendly, not after your money all the time like they can be in some places. I'd highly recommend it.
Good luck, hope you find somewhere and enjoy it!
