quatar versus british airways ?

Have been offered two flights to Dar es Salaam with both airlines - hoilday package with latter is cheaper and shorter but think 'pitch' is less.Anyone offer any advice as to which to take ? Price difference is around � 230 by the by - cannot afford upgrade b4 u ask !!!

It sounds as if you are considering economy, in which case I would without hesitation choose BA. Qatar advertise themselves as 5 star but that only applies to upper classes and their economy is nothing to write home about, plus you have an additional airport to pass through with a correspondingly longer travel time. BA are not anything great either in terms of what you get and their big weakness is Heathrow as an airport - if you are planning departing from any other (direct, or at least not via Heathrow) then for me it is a no-brainer, BA for sure (especially if the Qatar option also leaves from Heathrow). The rational way to look at air travel in economy is to see it much like a bus journey: a seat to your destination. If I am paying then I do not consider the huge premium for business class or first to be remotely worth it. Seat pitch differences of no more than 50mm will only really matter if you are quite tall - if the person in front fully reclines the whole way you are boxed in anyway (the weak point about individual seatback video screens).

personally BA is my least favourite airline in the world, unless you are business or first, they totally ignore all economy passengers as much as possible, treat you like dirt and dont bother to press the bell for an attendant because they dont come.
I once got an upgrade [Dubai to London] and it was a totally different attitude.
My pal on a recent trip to Jamaica had same treatment, so its not just me.
Only trouble is make sure Qatar is not a dry flight, having said that I once travelled PIA and they provided the ice and mixers and I poured my duty free, they suggested it.

British airways,the only difference now on a long haul is the attitude of the cabin crew,found the arab operated outfits,the crew can kill with a stare at 10 metres should you dare to ask for something ( ethiad the worst )

Thanks for the info - the Qatar flight is ex Manchester by the by . Has anyone heard that this airline frequently overbook ?
