Germany - Black Forest & Ulm areas
1 Answers
I am planning to travel by train this summer to Freiburg, Baden Baden, Ulm (for Oath Monday) and then to Augsberg. Has anyone done this route before? I'm keen to get opinions on what to do, how long to stay in each place, and which are the good towns and villages to stop at on the way. Also, has anyone been to Ulm for the Festival of Lights and Oath Monday?

The beat I can contribute is a german tongue twister. In Ulm, und um Ulm, und um Ulm herum. Which roughly translates as "in Ulm, and around Ulm, and all about Ulm". Pretty boring I know, but it might break the ice with the locals! Also as you are going to south Germany, you should greet people with "gross Gott" (pronounced grus Got) rather than the more formal Guten tag.
