I am flying from manchester to jerez in Spain at the end of June and I have been pestering everyone aboput the handluggage issue. I have looked at the Thomas Cook website for advice too. My query is, if I do take the regualtions size hand luggage, i.e. the vanity case that matches my suitcase, can i also use a small, very neat and unobtrusive cross body bag, only about 8" square, to carry my ducuments like passport, tickets etc, travellers cheques, cards and my phone and mp3 player?
It does on a few sites say only one item of handluggage but this is such a small bag it is like a purse, which actually I suppose would go into my vanity case until i am on the plane then i could wear it, mmmmmmmm what do you think?

If you can put it into your vanity case as you go through security there's no problem then if they comment on only one piece of luggage you can put it inside. The reason they go for 1 piece of luggage is for the lockers; once the lockers are full bags would have to be stored elsewhere. If it's so small and will be with you on the plane I can't see them making a comment. After all, on getting on the plane people are allowed hand luggage plus their bag of duty free
Yes, a lot of thm are getting stroppy about women (in particular) with a shoulder bag plus a handbag too, saying you're only allowed one. So either pop one inside the other like lafrancaise says, or wear a jacket with big pockets and put your must-haves in them since jackets don't count as handbags even if they've got more stuff in them.
I have been into Thomas Cook's today and the guy printed off the latest guideklines and regulations . It does say only one bag not exceeding 5kg in weight OR 43x28x23 ms in size. So i will make sure i leave room oin my hand case ofr the handbag til i am seated. It also says about the clear plastic resealable bag for all liquids which includes toothpaste, which was going in my case anyway.
It is quite clear anyway and so i am glad I went in toe ask them.
Cheers guys.

No problem with hand luggage . 2 Adults with two kids both kids had MP3s and PSPs and snacks in draw string bags but no drinks and we also had our hand luggage, Camera,Video, Hair dryer, Straighteners, and also my handbag with all the neccessary documents we had no problem apart from the kids had to drink their fruit shoots at passport control.
