We are in Lisbon for a short time is it worthwhile queuing

It is higher up, however. What you're getting from either viewpoint is a sea of red tile roofs going up to the hills or down to the sea. Here's a photo I took from the elevator

try going on the old fashioned tram tour, it starts in the middle of the big square near the water front, you can book in advance, it takes all over Lisbon and the ride lasts for about 1 hour, well worth it.
If you have all day and you get bored, go over on the ferry from the waterfont again, to the other side, takes about 10 mins and the restaurants are mainly fish over there are really good, used by the locals and much cheaper than the tourist trap ones.
Or you can find the station and go to Caiscais, takes about 45 mins by train and the service is prompt, have lunch in oneof the many open air restaurants [ barbequed sardinees are excellent] have a stroll around and come back into Lisbon.
Shoes are cheap to buy in Lisbon too., plenty of shoe shops. hope you enjoy whatever you do.
