We are in Lisbon for a short time is it worthwhile queuing
to go to the top of the elevator ?

the queue was only 5 minutes last week; the view is very good. The time will probably vary according to the time of day. The elevador is included in the cost of the LisboaCard travel card if you're buying one.

Not really. We did it last year. Yes the view of the city is nice, and if you can stomach the tiny space then head to the very top of the tower. If the queue is no more than 10 mins then try it, but its nt essential, in my opinion.

the other alternative for views over the city is to go up to the castle, but this takes longer and is a bit more expensive. It is higher up, however. What you're getting from either viewpoint is a sea of red tile roofs going up to the hills or down to the sea. Here's a photo I took from the elevator

try going on the old fashioned tram tour, it starts in the middle of the big square near the water front, you can book in advance, it takes all over Lisbon and the ride lasts for about 1 hour, well worth it.
If you have all day and you get bored, go over on the ferry from the waterfont again, to the other side, takes about 10 mins and the restaurants are mainly fish over there are really good, used by the locals and much cheaper than the tourist trap ones.
Or you can find the station and go to Caiscais, takes about 45 mins by train and the service is prompt, have lunch in oneof the many open air restaurants [ barbequed sardinees are excellent] have a stroll around and come back into Lisbon.
Shoes are cheap to buy in Lisbon too., plenty of shoe shops. hope you enjoy whatever you do.
