The Algarve is fabulous. Some restaurants only open after 8 pm for supper. Some apts are a long walk from the beach, and down steps, too. We rented a car, and drove to Sintra and along the coast. Also used the car to go to the supermarket.

Hi. I stayed in the Hotel Montechoro 2 years ago and had such a great time we went back last year. The hotel is in a great position in the Algarve as it is right at the top of the 'Strip' where most the bars and restaurants are. You are also across the road from the Irish bars which have some fun entertainment on all day. The hotel rooms are a good size and the maids are excellent and our room was spotless every day.
The hotel also offers free transport to the market/ old town and to and from the beach which is a blessing as the hill it is down is commonly called 'Cardiac Hill' as it is so steep and no one wants to climb up that when your tired from sun bathing all day!
The only advice I can give you is if you are having breakfast in the hotel, get there early as they are not very good at keeping the food warm or well stocked.
Other than that, enjoy it, you'll have a great time
