http://www.skyscanner.net

This is a great website to see what airline is offering the best price if you know your destination and rough dates.

Dont book via them go to the airline direct.

http://www.skybargains.co.uk are pretty good - eg Alicante ex gatwick next week is 235 for 2 ad + 2 ch. on Travelticket link through them, or 329 in September.....

Also, try http://www.worldflights.com loads of useful links off there too.

Getting the best price is about a little patience and searching but you should be ok with the above and the others suggested....and remember that the cheapest ticket can be without refreshments, seat allocation, or any 'extras'.

Generally the best rates are from holiday flights filling the extra capacity like from Airtours or Thomson Fly, so keep this in mind when booking.
That's still only 62.50 each, each-way !!

It also depends where you fly from - where are you based - you might be better off travelling a bit this side to get a better flight.

When we go we always fly with Thomson from Doncaster - this is showing very expensive at the moment - 900 on average for four adults.

It looks like you're not getting a bad deal at 500.

usually the flights for pennies are booked a lot earlier than 3 mths prior.
SkyScanner is a good site but it's not infallible. It never shows the really cheap flights when, say, Ryanair has flights at just 0.01 (+ taxes & charges) each way.

I often fly with Ryanair, from Stansted, and usually pay under a tenner (+ t&c) each way. (Most fares I pay are usually in the range 0.01 to 0.99). However, I'm able to book early, fly mid-week and select destinations which aren't the most popular.

Alicante in September is bound to be popular and it's already quite late to find really cheap flights. Even so, by trying a few sample (mid-week) dates in September, I've had no difficulty in finding return flights, from Stansted to Alicante, for a total (including all taxes & charges) of 395.64 for 4 people. Roughly similar fares are also available, with Ryanair, from Liverpool.

However, Jet2.com can do it cheaper from Leeds-Bradford (352.76).

Even better though, easyJet can fly you from Stansted to Alicante (out 13/09, back 27/09) for a total of 291.92. (easyJet also fly to Alicante from Bristol, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, Garwick, Luton & Newcastle).

Pesonally I think the days of the really cheap flights are over. I want to fly from Brum to Majorca in Jan 160.00 each with a cheap airline!!
Easyjet wanted 222.00 for one to Ibiza - Stansted, I used Skyscanner and gor BA return for 179!!
