Florida Villas - Making use of the strong pound.
I wish to book a villa in Florida for my holidays next year, however I was wondering, what with the strong pound against the dollar, if it would work out cheaper renting the villa directly from an american site / owner. Does anyone have any experience of this or can you give me any pointers where to start as when I search.

We found it much cheaper to book the flight and villa/townhouse separately. We used http://www.holidayvillas.com/ and had a villa the first time then a townhouse in a gated complex the second time. On the whole the second option proved the best as far as transport to and from disney and its close location to the main routes (and many many many steakhouses etc) Everything was within walking distance, yet once on the complex you were away from the hustle and bustle. There was a communal swimming pool for the kids plus an onsite clubhouse with snacks, pressies and internet connection. We went with NWA first time (stopover in detroit) and then virgin the second time - but you can get much cheaper flights from smaller chartered airlines.

Not sure where you want to stay but my parents have a house available for rent about half an hour south of Sarasota. It's around a 3 1/2 hour drive to Orlando so if you just want the parks, it probably wouldn't suit, but you could have time in Orlando then head down the coast for a few days? The website is brownsfloridavilla.co.uk if you're interested. Not sure what it works out as compared to booking through an american company, but my parents use a management company to rent it out also so base the costs on this.
