I'm travelling from London down to Epsom this weekend. I have to ring my mate when I'm two stops away from Epsom. How do I find out which station this is going to be?

there will be a map of the stations on your route in the train,or should i say there should be
On the line from Waterloo to Epsom, the last few stations before Epsom are Motspur Park, Worcester Park, Stoneleigh and Ewell West.

The route from Victoria will take you through Carshalton, Sutton, Cheam and Ewell East on the approach to Epsom.

Mmmmm....thanks.

As you say Norman there may not be a map on the train so I don't want to take the risk of leaving it until I'm on it!

Buenchico, I'm not sure if my train leaves from Victoria or Waterloo as I'm not getting on it until it gets to Clapham Junction.

How did you find out the info about the stops? Is there a website that shows the routes/maps?

Clapham Junction is on the line from Waterloo. The stations, in order, along the line, are Earlsfield, Wimbledon, Raynes Park, Motspur Park, Worcester Park, Stoneleigh, Ewell West and Epsom.

My information is derived from the map which is provided with the (printed) National Rail Timetable.

If you require confirmation, check the maps here:
http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/tocs_maps/maps/n etwork_rail_maps.htm
('London and the South-East' or 'London Connections' should show the information).

Thanks once again for your reply.

I've printed off one of those maps, but it seems my service will in fact travel along the route :-

Clapham Jn
Balham
Mitcham Jn
Hackbridge
Carshalton
Sutton
Cheam
Ewell East
Epsom

If this is indeed the route, then where would be the final destination of this service?
Services from Clapham Junction to Epsom are likely to have Epsom, Dorking Main or Guildford as their destination. You can check by entering your travel details on the National Rail website:
http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/
When a list of services is shown, click 'See all details' and you'll find out the destination of each service.

A much better timetable enquiry site is provided by Deutsche Bahn:
http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en
When a list of services is shown, click 'Details for all'. You can then click 'Show intermediate stops' to see the route taken by your chosen train.
