Sounds OK to me. Why not check with greenflag.co.uk?
multimap.com says 6 hours 45 to do the 462.2 miles (i like how it says .2 of a mile - i just put birmingham - how does it know what part to measure from?) which is about a 70mph average speed. AA tends to be a bit negative on measurements, it thinks we're all old grannies driving at 45mph in rush hour. results for your trip are: http://tinyurl.com/2b5le
Sticking to speed limits and allowing for breaks, between 7 and 9 hours is about right. Dont forget a lot of the roads in that area are single lane roads whith very little over taking space. If you get stuck behind a rolling road block (caravan) you could take nearer 9 hours! It is a really great drive though! Loch Ness is great and Drum its self has some great pubs and restaurants
And please re-post to let us all know how you get on.
