Bath would be the best place to transfer from train to bus - Taunton involves travelling way beyond Wells to come back again.
Buses leave Bath every hour from 905am to 705pm, taking an hour and a quarter. Less frequent on Sundays.

A train to Bristol then a bus to Wells would be quickest and cheaper. The bus from Taunton takes ages to get to Glastonbury let alone wells. Dzug is wrong though, the bus goes Street Glastonbury then Wells, it doesnt go beyond to come back again. Going from LOndon to Weston and then by bus would also be quicker.
Thanks everyone. I guessed there were various ways of doing the journey when the B&B told me one thing, the tourist office something else and my own internet research came up with something different altogether!
I guess I'll look at the various price options with a train to Bath/Bristol and also the various timings with connections etc.
I was told the bus journey from Bath to Wells is very pretty?
