Things to do in Barcelona
Hi all, I'm going to visit Barcelona for a few nights with a friend and wondered if anyone had any advice on the best places to visit? We're really just after a relaxing break from work with some light tourist stuff to do during the day, and some alcohol-related things to do at night!

Get a Lonely Planet Barcelona, worth every penny. It tells you where to get cheap tickets for transport and places to go. Casa Battlo, Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell, La Padrera (all Gaudi works) are an absolute must. Picasso Museum is pants. Las Ramblas is cool and entertaining. Eat in cheap fish restaurants on the old part of the quayside and watch the world go by. Must see the Nou Camp - we got tickets for Real Madrid v Barcelona, what an experience. Not the season at present but they do have a good museum. I was there for an exhausting week and it wasn't long enough. Above all BE CAREFUL! I was waiting at traffic lights and a man pointed to a bloke on a bike and told me I was about to be robbed. I looked around quickly and the guy rode off but it was scary. I also attracted a gang of guys on the train but managed to evade them in the station. Enjoy
All of the above - Gaudi's architecture is unmissable, the markets off the Ramblas have a lot of atmosphere, and the beach is a great place to do some people spotting - equipped with it's very own basic mini gym, but quite entertaining to watch those who love to be watched! Make sure you go up Mount Tibidabo as it gives a good vantage point of the city, and above all, just enjoy strolling - sometimes when I have travelled in the past I have relied on my guide book too much to lead me to some fab find of a bar (and I have been disappointed, especially when you go out of your way). Of course sometimes they are fab, but there is nothing better than walking around a city, getting lost and making your own gem of a discovery - happy rambling!
