Jamaica - where to go?!
Thanks to a suggestion from someone on this website, my fiance and I are considering honeymooning in Jamaica and have been doing some research with regards to where in Jamiaca to go but can't see any clear winners. We're late twenties and after relaxation and a bit of fun in the evenings (bars etc) - any suggestions. Negril, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Runaway Bay....????

I went to a mate's wedding at The Riu Hotel, Ocho Rios, in May. Fantastic hotel, beach, everything. Ochee (as they call it) is a very small port - not a great deal of nightlife - hotel entertainment isn't the greatest, but always good fun. Montego is a bit bigger, and right near the airport.... good luck
We stayed at the Riu Hotel in Ocho Rios, and found it ideal. Remember that the Jamaicans are really laid back, so don't expect to get anywhere fast !! Its close to the Dunns River Falls, which is worth a visit. We also went into the Blue Mountains and over to Bob Marley's House. Quite a few of the cruise liners call into Ocho Rios, and we found the prices in the shops tended to rise on "cruise" days
Im not a real fan of Jamaica. However, there are some nice hotels Ive stayed in. If you like the idea of spa services, luxury service and privacy, then Id recommend the Round Hill Hotel and Villas at Montego Bay. I also enjoy the Tryal Club, also small an intimate with less than 75 Rooms.

Im particularly concerned over some of the governmental issues over the past two months, which has caused a further increase in crime, kidnapping, and civil unrest.

Many of the cruise companies refuse to call at Jamaican Destinations any longer due to the high rate of incidents occurring with passengers whilst on day trips to places such as the falls.
Personally, I encourage many honeymooners to consider a cruise. Its so helpful in budgeting as your 5 meals a day are in included in the pricing and your scenery changes daily. But what I like most of all is the fact that young people are able to return with a lovely collection of photographic memories, as the ships have professional photographers on board. Youre not obligated to buy any of the photos, but almost always, there are many you do choose to select. And the photographers are delighted to assist you at any time in taking photos of you in settings that are most memorable for you. Add to this idea, that you have the opportunity to participate in both formal and leisure evenings at dinne
