flight times across america

does anyone know how long it takes to fly from one side to the other roughly?
and from the north to the south???

My son regularly flies from Miami, Florida to Los Angeles - it takes approx 5.5 hrs & to San Francisco it takes 6hrs.

New York to LA is 5.45hrs.

North to South would depend on which point you are flying from & to - you would need to specify.

For example Minneapolis to New Orleans is 2 hours 42 mins - whereas Seattle to Houston - which is a bit of a diagonal - is 4hrs 5mins

Or do you mean the whole of North America from Alaska - over Canada - to one of the southern cities?

Here is a site I use almost weekly. You simply type in where you want to travel from and to. In your case, you will need to click in the space where you've typed the city after you've pressed enter, to select from a drop-down menu of specific airports within that city. However, once you've done this, you'll have a list of all airlines that fly between those cities and the journey time is reflected in either the direct flight or connecting flights.

There's a bit of irony in the fact that I've had flights between Washington and New York or Boston and New York that took as long as a flight from L.A. to New York! Of course, most of the time was sitting on the aeroplane on a ramp somewhere listening to announcements about air traffic delays!
