Approximate fares:

Grantham to Kings Cross:
Open Return = 89
Weekly ticket = 4 x Open Return = 356
Monthly ticket = 4 x weekly ticket x 0.85 = 1210

Newark to Kings Cross:
Open Return = 111
Weekly ticket = 4 x Open Return = 444
Monthly ticket = 4 x weekly ticket x 0.85 = 1510

Open Return prices derived from here:
http://www.nationalrail.co.uk
Other prices estimated from the information here:
http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/seas on_tickets/

For similar journey times (from Ipswich into Liverpool Street), with much lower fares and roughly similar housing costs (as long as you avoid certain expensive areas) consider moving to Suffolk instead of Lincolnshire.

GNER don't exist any more - they are now National Express East Coast

http://www.nationalexpresseastcoast.com/

However you can get exact season ticket prices from

http://ojp1.nationalrail.co.uk/en/pj/sts

For some reason Chris has badly overestimated them - 157.80 a week, 606 a month 6312 a year (next year's prices) from Grantham
